Didn't like it the first time either, liked it even less on the re-read for those exact reasons! *NM*

Genre-wise it's right up my street, and given a summary of it I'd have said I'd love it.
But I didn't. I found it really disjointed (possibly because I read it in fits and starts over several weeks, but I've done that wih other books and not had the problem), the characterisation was generic and the pacing seemed all off.
My main gripe is the characters, I guess. I never really cared about any of them, and several really annoyed me.
I'll give it another go in a few months, see if a second read through helps it any.

I read it about a year ago now, and I didn't like it.
