I would think this was Dickens' most famous book. Surely somebody has read it.

I don't think it's his most famous work here in the US. Certainly not his best tale, either.

Well, it is only his second novel, and the first one with a real attempt at a coherent plot.

I did enjoy it when I read it my senior year of high school, but for me, my first real exposure to Dickens was Great Expectations (which I just finished re-reading a couple of days ago) and that one is still more memorable for me. Hard Times and Bleak House are personal favorites, but certainly not likely to be nominated as one of Dickens' best by most.

A Christmas Carol would be his most famous book, methinks. - 10/02/2011 10:29:00 PM 1960 Views

I think Oliver Twist is far more famous internationally. But maybe that's just around here. *NM* - 10/02/2011 10:30:22 PM 970 Views
