the other e-readers are much more open on sharing and file format support. While the kindle is very limited, but if you are tech savvy at all it is very easy to convert any eBook to a different format that the kindle can use.
Calibre is a e-book application that freely changes formats between e-pub/mobi and almost every other e-book type. I have yet to run into an eBook i couldn't just load into the program, convert to .mobi and start reading in like 3 mins. you can also look up(and add to your eBook) covers and meta data for a book as long as you know the ISBN (2 second search on google/amazon).
