Okay, first of all, where the hell in the excerpt is Karsa mentioned? The comments keep mentioning Karsa and nowhere did I see Karsa, unless it was some offhand reference from another character.
I didn't notice it at first too but there is a italicized passage talking from the view of a man whose friend thought he was a dog after a blow to the head. This happened to one of Karsa's friend in HoC. Karsa's name is never mentioned so it's easy to miss.
Moving on ...
My favorite part was Nimander's conversation with Apsa'lara, Goddess of Thieves. Her advice to him was very poignant, "... Be her breath cast out." AWESOME! Now if only if the other Apsalara shows up then I will be content.
So many important things happens and so many characters appear. In just 10 pages. I'm sure there will plenty of others coming soon. Can't wait.
About Ganoes Paran. When did he return?!? Was it in Dust of Dreams during the battle with the Nahruk? What is his army comprised of? Children? Are these the same children we saw in DoD that wandered the desert starving and hunted?
He didn't return. He relocated Host straight from 7Cities to Kolanse. The children are probably other remnants of Kolanse people like the ones crossing the Glass Desert but still under FA rule.
Who exactly was that pallid woman with the chain of bones? Calm?
Calm - the Forkrul Assail who Karsa freed in HoC.
I like how we get more glimpses of the connections between dragons and warrens. It seems like the vioce of Mockra Seren Pedac heard belongs to Eloth. And we got to see of how soletaken dragons are made and it ain't pretty.
Did Kilava just implied she is the mother of Trake? I though she's mother of first human in general not The First Hero himself.
Evolution, just like gravity, works even if you don't believe in it.
Stupidity doesn't hurt but it kills.
