I also liked the Thrawn trilogy.
The Jedi Academy Trilogy:
Jedi Search, Dark Apprentice, Champions of the Force were readable.

Darksaber was not very good.

The Black Fleet Crisis trilogy was readable:
Before the Storm, Shield of Lies, Tyrant's Test

The Hand of Thrawn Duology was good:
Specter of the Past, Vision of the Future

The Legacy of the Force series was up and down dependant on the author. Kinda have to read them all to get it though.

My big reccomendation would be to find out what you can get at the library for free or minimal cost. I was able to read all but two of the Legacy of the Force series for free or a $0.25 charge. I've started reading the new series and it's not good enough to buy, but it's definately readable from the library for free or maybe even at a lower cost from half.com used etc.. type websites.
