Hey Rafonauts

One person's Rafonaut is another's Rafhole.

1 - Approximately how many books do you read in the average month?
2-3, usually. Sometimes I read only one, sometimes I can get through 4.

2 - Of those books, what ratio would be Sci-fi/Fantasy compared with Not SFF? (Ie SFF:NotSFF)
5%-95%

3 - (with credit to Tom) Which of these do you read:

Fantasy

Moderately. I read Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn this year, I keep up with Wheel of Time and Song of Ice and Fire and I try occasional other books.

Sci-fi

Almost never.

Historical Fiction

Rarely.

Classics

I make sure I read a few every year.

Thrillers

Rarely, though I am finishing up Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol.

Crime/Mystery

Almost never - I read a few Agatha Christie novels and that's it for the whole genre.

Other fiction stuff (like Ian McEwan, Kazuo Ishiguro etc)

Not sure what you mean by that

Non-fiction

Frequently. I tend to read as much non-fiction as fiction, and in some years much more.

Graphic Novels

Never.

Manga

LOL. Never, ever.

Plays

I avoid reading plays because I think that by their nature they should be watched.

Poetry

Moderately. I try to read poetry from time to time.

Short stories (please specify what genre they might belong to)

Sometimes, but not often - I read O. Henry short stories last year.

Magazines

The Economist

Newspapers

only online - NYT, WSJ are the only ones that come to mind

4 - Do you read every day?

Generally.

5 - Do you find it easy to discuss the books you read?

YES!

5a - If not, do you know what might make it easier?

6 - Do you buy books as soon as they are published?

Usually, but you can't always know you're going to be interested in something when it debuts.

7 - What do you like to see in reviews?

T&A

Thanks.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius

Ummaka qinnassa nīk!
