I'm about halfway thru WOK and I love it. But . . . I'm beginning to understand how some people feel about Elayne's bath scenes and Faile's chapter on silk cleaning.
How's that? The Bridge Crew scenes show a group of slaves growing from people who don't give a damn about themselves, not to mention anyone else, to being a part of a family and caring for each other. The bath (and the dress smoothing/sniffing) scenes are filler for the most part. I don't remember a silk cleaning scene right off.
I agree but when you're craving more Dalinar or wondering whether Shallan's actually going to steal that Soulcaster, it's frustrating to have to read about a group of men carrying a wooden bridge.
The silk cleaning scene I referenced comes in either Crossroads of Twilight or Knife of Dreams, I think the former. Jordan was trying to illustrate how far Faile and her queenly attendants had fallen since their capture by the Shaido.
BTW, it's a little off my original topic, but I'm betting myself that the same group that wants their Soulcaster back from Shallan's family also now controls Szeth.
