I come here, read some interesting reviews and other book stuff. I have a lot of fun and think RAFO is awesome but...
It forces me to realize the small number of books I've actually read. People are talking about books I've never heard of left and right and coming up with a new review every week!
I know what you mean. I don't read nearly as much as half the people here. And all these books I've never heard of just drive that point home more and more.
Does anyone else feel like this? Are you ashamed of your lack of reading like I am? While people read books every second!?
Ashamed? No. Do I feel inferior when I see HUGE lists of books on people profile for what they've read over the past year (or more)? Hell yeah. I've been unemployed for the past four months and I have read like three or four books. I miss the days when I thought 100 pages a day was a great reading day. Now 100 seems like a few minutes of work for these people. And I bet they remember a LOT more than I do too.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

Does this ever make you depressed?

I don't measure myself against other people by number of books read.

Probably. It just seems like a shame that you'd figure you like him, and yet don't.

That's a good way of looking at it... a filter to steer people towards the books worth their while.

I do notice the same, but it doesn't make me depressed or ashamed
