And in the magical equivalent of the Holy Grail. Can you tell I'm seeing Arthuriana everywhere now? :P As a poke at Dan Brown and his readers, this would be rather well hidden (no, I don't really think it was intended as such), but accurate.

You never actually did finish the Da Vinci Code, did you? ;) The big dramatic reveal at the end of that book ends up being that the Holy Grail isn't actually an object, but Jesus' bloodline (the classic theory of Jesus and Mary Magdalen fleeing to Massilia and having children there in the Provence, I'm sure you've heard about that one before). My point was that - even though I admit it's a stretch - you could read Xenophilius as a poke at those lovers of conspiracy theories who not only devour books like the Da Vinci Code, but believe all the conspiracies in them too.


I did read the Da Vinci code, I just didn't get what you were aiming at. I am not sure your analogy holds, especially since he turns out to be right.

Interestingly, she doesn't seem to resent Hermione, who's rarely been all that warm to her.
