Bottom line: knock yourself out with the fanfic, but don't try to pretend you invented the character of Sherlock Holmes yourself.


My idea is about a Sherlock Holmes who is based on the fictional one but is not real. That ... makes no sense, explained in such an evasive manner, but I don't want to give away my gimmick, which I came up with in a dream last night. Suffice to say, it would be well acknowledged that the character I'm using is not quite the real one, and that the real one was not invented by me.
