1 - Approximately how many books do you read in the average month?
Doing the math, it looks like I've average about 6 books a month over the last couple of years. For some reason I read more in the fall.
2 - Of those books, what ratio would be Sci-fi/Fantasy compared with Not SFF? (Ie SFF:NotSFF)
About 80:20, once again over the last two years.
3 - (with credit to Tom) Which of these do you read:
Fantasy
Sci-fi
Historical Fiction
Classics
Thrillers (rare)
Crime/Mystery (very rare)
Non-fiction
Graphic Novels
Plays
Short stories - typically sci-fi/fantasy, occasionally horror
4 - Do you read every day?
Probably five days a week.
5 - Do you find it easy to discuss the books you read?
Yes, but not really in-depth.
5a - If not, do you know what might make it easier?
Practice! Also, non-laziness. That's my current hurdle I think.
6 - Do you buy books as soon as they are published?
Only for authors that I already know I really like, or series I've been reading for a long time (and also really like).
7 - What do you like to see in reviews?
Basic ideas of what the book's about, so I know if it's something that will interest me. Honestly, other than that, I just kind of look at how much the reviewer liked it - there's nothing else specific that I look for.
Sometimes I skim. I'm a terrible person.
Thanks.
You're welcome!
I am made of poison.
