Hey Rafonauts
A few questions for you on your reading habits.
1 - Approximately how many books do you read in the average month?
Generally 4. More or less depending on time available.
2 - Of those books, what ratio would be Sci-fi/Fantasy compared with Not SFF? (Ie SFF:NotSFF)
80/20. Though the non-SFF would increase if I used a more strict definition of SFF.
3 - (with credit to Tom) Which of these do you read:
Fantasy
Yes.
Sci-fi
Yes. But not a whole bunch.
Historical Fiction
Yes.
Classics
Sometimes.
Thrillers
No.
Crime/Mystery
I have. But not regularly by any means.
Other fiction stuff (like Ian McEwan, Kazuo Ishiguro etc)
Yes.
Non-fiction
Not often.
Graphic Novels
Rarely. I think I've read 5 total.
Manga
No. Wouldn't mind trying a few though.
Plays
Not since school.
Poetry
Same as above.
Short stories (please specify what genre they might belong to)
Yes. Majority would fall under the wider umbrella of speculative fiction.
Magazines
No.
Newspapers
Physical copy every Saturday. Online everyday.
4 - Do you read every day?
Yes. Books, no.
5 - Do you find it easy to discuss the books you read?
Probably not. Nobody to really discuss them with.
5a - If not, do you know what might make it easier?
Having somebody to discuss them with.
6 - Do you buy books as soon as they are published?
Yes, if it's a book I don't want to wait to read.
7 - What do you like to see in reviews?
Actual commentary of what makes the book good. I detest reviews that are essentially just recaps with some surface description of good/bad things just to make it look like a review.
Having said that- I'm terrible at reviewing stuff.
Thanks.
No problem.
