"Contempt" is not so much, though of course you as someone who's read the book will have a better view on whether "hate" or "contempt" was the best word to use.

It wouldn't be the first time that a title in translation was arguably better than the original title, but then that leads you to all sorts of philosophical questions about whether the translator really ought to try and improve on the original title.

Other than that, I might pick the books up, in Spanish or French, once they're all out in paperback or at least some cheap edition.
