Man. . . That voice? Yeah. He should be reading me stories every night.

1. Second chance in as many days to link to Tom Waits, this time reading Bukowski. Love this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va1t6a0zCkQ
I already have that one added to my favourites! What was the other Waits video?
Dos. If you love Bukowski, they have this DVD of the last poetry reading he ever did, I saw it a couple of months ago and it's cool. When I read his "Should I get Married?" (or whatever the title is) poem, I said to myself: this is a man who could understand me. It's on Netflix, I think, but I'm not sure if you have Netflix over in Finsweenetherway.
Hm, if we don't have Netflix, we've got something similar. I prefer to steal stuff, though. What's it called? I want it! I have this thing called 90 Minutes in Hell (I think) but that sounds very old and is only audio. I like listening to him stumble drunkenly through his own poetry.
(Finsweenetherwayan is officially my new nationality.)
they say he slept in the bushes. I guess that's where he
died. he's not around any
more.
there was the big fat blond whore
who kept touching him for luck, and
laughing.
nobody had any luck. the whore is gone
too.
I guess nothing ever works for us. we're fools, of course -
bucking the inside plus a 15 percent take,
but how are you going to tell a dreamer
there's a 15 percent take on the
dream? he'll just laugh and say,
is that all?
I miss those
sparks.
(i hang my head against the white
refrigerator and want to scream like
the last weeping of man forever
but I AM BIGGER THAN THE MOUNTAINS)

and some of them keep me from falling."

Because you should care about being intelligent, rather than appearing to be intelligent.

Again, why would I care?

No one can make you care about being decent, or intelligent, or a viable member of the community.

I think it's rather pointless, to be honest.

Then why are you even here?

I don't know. I thought I'd see how long I could string you along.

You're the one who doesn't care.

I care only as much as I care. What others think is irrelevant to that.

But you're still responding to me.

I'm not going to. I find this entertaining.

I do as well. It's fun pretending to be an asshole, I'll admit.

And I was evasive about it at the time. When pressed, I answered more fully.

Why be evasive?
10/11/2010 12:16:19 AM

I disagree with your claim that there can be no value in translations.

Not "no value", but "different value" is what I would argue
09/11/2010 09:55:54 PM

I don't disagree, but you can't possibly learn all languages, yet you can read translations of all.

My choice, hands down, is to ignore the poetry in languages I don't read.
