I think you underestimate the number of translations of the Bible.

Also, what people claim are "shelves full of Bibles" are typically shelves full of Bibles and Biblical commentary, which as you know is fairly extensive (and exhaustive). 
But still, various translations alone bring up the number considerably. You have the King James, of course, and the New King James, and the American Standard, and the New American Standard, and the New American Standard Revised (je t'adore), and the New International Version (je te deteste), and the Living Word Translation (words do not describe), and that's just off of the top of my head. There are countless modernizations, each more unfortunate than the next.

The Life-Light was the real thing:
Every person entering Life
he brings into Light.

their child-of-God selves.
These are the God-begotten,
