Terry Pratchett
Peter F. Hamilton
Richard K. Morgan
Neil Gaiman
Kir Bulychev
Sergei Lukyanenko
(British or Russian wonder what it says about me)
Hmm..., then I think maybe Guy Gavriel Kay and David Brin will at least take it to another continent.
I like the humour of Milena Wójtowicz novels.
I think I also have all Ewa Bia?o??cka books and I like Maja Lidia Kossakowska's writing (funny how all my favourite female writers are Polish)
I would also add Steven Erikson but I haven't read anything non-Malazan (I wish there was a normal version of Fishin' with Grandma Matchie)
I used to think Andrzej Sapkowski but I didn't like his non-Geralt novels much
