As a tangent: You need to compile a list of excellent short fiction collections.

I'll be doing just that in late December. If you go to the OF Blog, you can click on the Best of 2008 link to the right and scroll through the related posts to see my thoughts on what I consider to be the best 2008 collections and anthologies I read that year.

Also, damn you and your recent streak of reviewing awesome sounding books. I'm trying to cut back until I can catch up with what I already have.

Ha! :P I'm nearing 350 books read this year. After a while, I'm bound to have read a few good ones, right? :P

Oh, and does the use of first person for most of the stories end up blurring the lines between them or is there a clear sense of separation?

There's a clear sense of separation between the various stories, although a few have some themes in common.
