I'm trying to read a bit of Shakespeare at the moment Lordling Send a noteboard - 30/09/2010 07:20:02 PM

I would go with some Shakespeare here. I mean, he's kind of a cornerstone for other literature and fun to read. It's a good place to start at least. Maybe Macbeth? It really is hard to just say one thing.

It makes me doubt my language skills a bit. Though I suppose anyone with no previous knowledge of Shakespeare's English would find it difficult. I wanted something completely different to clear my brain for a while, cause the last thing I read was a 350 page German book (Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo) and now I should study some more German for an exam. I had a few of my sister's old books lying in my bookshelf and I thought I'd give them a try. I'm on page 32, 100 pages in total. I'm not sure if I can get through the Twelth Night.

"By maid-hood, honour, truth and every thing,
I love thee so, that maugre all thy pride,
nor wit, nor reason, can my passion hide;
do not extort thy reasons from this clause,
for that I woo, thou therefore hast no cause;
but rather reason thus, with reason fetter;
love sought, is good; but given unsought, is better"

(WTF?) :D

Fahrenheit 451 was such a disappointment. A great beginning, but the story was too short and had far less grandeur than I had hoped for.
