Joe Abercrombie & Daniel Abraham Werthead Send a noteboard - 12/09/2009 03:55:27 AM
The two writers who have written the two most interesting and refreshing new epic fantasy series in recent years.

Don't get me wrong, I like Sanderson and Rothfuss, but they are pretty traditional. They're refining the form, not really bringing new things to the table whilst celebrating the past like Abercrombie and Abraham.

Scott Lynch and Scott Bakker (who might still count as new-ish, enough since his first book still only came out six years ago) are somewhere between the two, and are also worth a look.

For the REALLY new authors (as in this year), Carrie Ryan, Stephen Deas, M.C. Newton and Alex Bell are all pretty good.
