Before I started this approach, my list was easily this long still - I just realized that I was only reading the stuff I'd added most recently, and never getting around to the stuff I'd added a while back. This way I'll not be as tempted to "skip around." Well, okay, this way I'll just think harder about it before I skip around.

Here add The Gone-Away World by Nick Harkaway.

Seriously? Ayn Rand? You have a limited time on this planet, a billion books to read, and you have that on your list?

Yep. I've heard the bashing a million times, but I don't know what all the fuss is about, so I figure I'll at least give one book a shot. It's not like I'm planning on going through the whole catalog, here.

Stanislaw Lem ~ Solaris
Oooh. You need to add His Master's Voice and The Perfect Vacuum and Cyberiad to this. You cannot skip some of his best work.

And, surely, all his plays?

For these two, and several others on the list, I want to get a taste of their writing style first. If I end up enjoying them, I will read more of their books.
