You might try Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, the first 25 or so of which are read very capably by Nigel Plainer. Assuming it isn't considered a usual suspect, and although the narrator leaves a bit to be desired and takes some getting used to, another option might be Jack Vance's Dying Earth saga, which many consider to be a classic of the genre.
