*nods* It becomes stronger when we actually see them in the next book, but yeah. There are other cases like it, of course - Snape in a way, and Luna comes to mind as well. No wonder then that Neville and Luna end up together, perhaps.
I just realised we've forgotten to add Voldemort to that list of traumatised children. I suppose that is part of the reason why there are so many of them, to show that his horrible childhood cannot be used as an excuse. That we are not simply the product of our blood or our past, but that we are people with choices, which I think is Rowling's core message.
