In fairness, the difference being that the worst thing a kid could realistically pick up from HP would be, you know, friendship/eternal damnation from evil witchery, whereas in Twilight you're actually promoting a very misogynistic worldview.
But I still don't think the problem with Twilight is really misogyny. Bella and Edward are the only couple in which the weak woman who needs guidance from her patronizing boyfriend is at all seen. And if you read Breaking Dawn, even there things change radically once Bella is a vampire.
I think it has more to do with Meyer's naive view of love and relationships and the way she advocates doing extremely drastic things - giving up the most precious thing you have, really - for love (for what one might call puppy love, at that). In Meyer's defense, Rosalie's character somewhat compensates for this by strongly arguing the case against it, but it's not nearly enough. And of course her rather bizarre views on what the perfect man would be like.
Of course, you'd never catch me reading such drivel.
I'll take that as a tacit confession.

Tolkien as a sacred cow of fantasy

That's my point, it's pretty much only relevant to Bella - only there is it shown prominently. *NM*

None of them are "geared towards grown ups" - it's still a YA series.

They're all "light reading" for adults, geared towards YA readers.
