Great to see it done!
This series, complex as it is, is amazing. Huge lore, great characters, mind-bogglingly complex battles, Wars so huge and sweeping as to span hundreds of thousands of years. Wars so ingrained that whole races chose to become undead to finish the war. Don't get me started on the heart-wrenching heroics... Nine books, and so many questions remaining, up to, and including, "What the hell does this world really look like?" Please give us YOUR World Map in this book Steven!
I've been deliriously curious, and thus hooked on this serious from the moment I met Krupp. Whiskeyjack, Hedge, Fiddler, Tehol and Bug, Rake, so many incredibly memorable characters. The nature of "Convergence." The Chain of Dogs... The sheer history of the planet, and its cultures, as vague as the tales are sometimes. What's not to like?
Spoiler: I NEVER have shouted, "NOOOOO!!!!" while reading a book, until the moment of Whiskeyjack's death. And I had never cried through fifteen pages until then, either.
Great job, Mr. Erikson!
