And bought a few, too; Larry will be pleased to hear I'm sure that I bought Bolaño's Los Detectives Salvajes, though perhaps less pleased that I didn't get around to reading Ficciones, and that the steep prices kept me from buying any Sapkowski books and Bolaño's 2666. (Seriously, I'm sure Sapkowski is good, but 19 euro each for his books of only 300-400 pages, not even in hardcover?) Besides the Bulgakov for the Book Club (yes, yes, I'm late), I also bought a book that I was surprised to not have heard a word about until now: Elizabeth Kostova's latest, The Swan Thieves. Considering the popularity of her first book, The Historian, I would've thought someone would've mentioned the sequel here. Kind of like how Audrey Niffenegger's more than worthy second novel Her Fearful Symmetry seems to have largely passed under the radar despite the success of its predecessor. But I digress. On to the reviews. I guess I'll make a separate post for each one, makes it easier if people want to react.
