Agree. I loved the instant tension with Malfoy and Snape too. - Edit 1

From the first time I read the book I've been totally in love with the picture I get in my head of Hogwarts. It just fascinates me every time I read it. It is a place I would love to visit.
And Malfoy. I hated him from the start. He's Harry's Hogwarts Dudley, only difference is that he's skinny, rich and has magic. It's too bad Harry has to leave Dudley behind and get Malfoy to torment him instead. At least he has friends at Hogwarts to back him up.

The initial meetings between Harry and each of these other characters were great scenes from this initial book.
Finding "enemies" early on is definitely counterbalanced by meeting, and instant friendship, with Ron on the train. As well as the developing relationship with Hermoine.
