I'm not implying it's brainless nor requires thought, but as I said, I tend to like books about adventures pitting people against the environment and not necessarily brutality or war, so I don't really like this style of story. It's not really a statement requiring defense or to inspire argument - it's moreso one of my opinion and preferences. Keyword would be "some of it (fantasy)", not necessarily this series in its' entirety.
