Hi Rafonauts
Here's another quick rundown of what's happening on the discussion boards at RAFO.
From the Management:
- Ben says Oops for the latest crash. Send him chocolate and cookies to ensure it doesn't happen again!
- Well done for all of the entires for the slogan competition. The winner will be announced soon.
- Interested in winning a lovely book? Live in the UK or Europe? Have a few hours to write a review? Then this is for you!
On the Sci-Fi & Fantasy Board:
- Have you read The Dresden Files? What did you think? Share your thoughts here.
- Can you name all of the important characters in The Lord of the Rings? Give it a go!
- Join the Russian Book Club's discussion of two short stories by Gogol. They're linked in the thread, and are quite short, so why not read them then share your thoughts?
- Winners of the David Gemmell Book Awards are announced, Neil Gaiman receives another award for The Graveyard Book, and Iain M Banks has a new Culture novel out in October. It's a busy week in the SF/F industry!
The Wheel of Time Board:
- The Board is going through a series of discussions about various characters, so why not join in? Currently, the topic is Aran'gar/Balthamel (but Sidious changed it on me almost right away last time so you'd better check to see if that is still true).
- Do you have any suggestions for Rand about how he can seal the Bore? Let him know in newyorkersedai's thread!
- Balwer. Who is he really? Krassos considers the spy master's loyalties.
On the TV & Movies Board:
- Doctor Who? Speculate on the latest episodes and what's going to happen next. But be warned: you'll apparently waste all of your time doing so.
- New trailers are released for The Green Hornet and the next Narnia film. Check 'em out!
- Get your teeth into the new series of True Blood.
- Good news, car lovers! Top Gear begins again this Sunday. What will those crazy blokes do next?
The Games Board:
- Aemon reviews the eagerly awaited OnLive. Read it here.
- Check out the teaser for Portal 2.
- grogg0316 surveys public opinion about riding hostile creatures. What would you do?
On the RPG Board:
- Day 2 is getting ready to begin the main Mafia game, which is being run by Ranagrande and set in the Magical Land of Crossover Town.
- There's also a WOT themed DnD style game modded by Fanatic-Templar currently on going, featuring a motley crew of Darkfriends trying to infiltrate the Fortress of the Light.
- There has been talk of starting another free-form game, maybe based in the Mistborn or Song of Fire and Ice universes, so keep an eye out for developments!
On the CMB:
- Looking for something to do in the first weekend of July? Come along to RAFO's first Edinburgh Gathering! A final update and information of what we're going to do have now been posted.
- World Cup, World Cup, World Cup. Laugh at France and Italy, place your bets on the rest!
- If you started a religion today, what foods would you ban? Helene asks the hard questions.
- Check out this feline version of Darth Vader. Bionic Kitty
Finally: TMJ would like you all to know the following:
