For some reason I have never been able to get anywhere with a Kim Stanley Robinson book.

I started Icehenge a long time ago – the blurb looked awesome, but there was something about the writing style that bugged me. I put it aside after a few chapters. Then, more recently, I tried The Years of Rice and Salt. I got a little further, but again, something I couldn't put my finger on made me simply not want to carry on reading it. The blurbs for both books made them sound like just my thing, so I'm sure it must be something to do with his writing style.
I do know, however, that the <Colour> Mars trilogy is his best-known work, so maybe I'll enjoy that more. I've known about it for a long time, and am probably long overdue to give it a try. This review makes me even more inclined to do so. I'll have to see where I can borrow Red Mars from.

I'm not much of a sci-fi person, but I really enjoyed this book.
