It isn't an exciting non stop action book but none of Wilson's books are. What I liked best about is though is the way he did the narrator. The book is told from the point of view of Julian Comstock’s best friend and he is more than a little naive and innocent. The book is bit political with the country being run by a hereditary president and the Dominion of Jesus Christ On Earth but it is done in an intelligent way that comes off as very believable. The way he uses a narrator who sees it all as normal and acceptable though makes the book less preachy then it might have been otherwise.
And I like Wilson's prose.

I enjoyed it. The absurdism--not all that unlike Vonnegut in many instances--made for a lot of fun.

I haven't read anything else of his. Just what he did with Clarke on that series.

Pale Fire was excellent. Especially for people who enjoy when Frost is mocked.
