I always thought they were just bat-shit crazy strict about everything ;), but apparently they aren't about that. They're no more strict than Catholics or Lutherans.

Either way, the book is really dry. Try reading The Island at the Center of the World about Nieuw Amsterdam. Greg recommended it to me. It was awesome, and it was all about Dutch people.
