Following on from the question on Film to Book adapations, here are some questions about the reverse.
1. What book would you most like to see adapted to film or TV?
Preferably a book I do not care about. Drood might actually make a good film if done right. It would do away with most of the annoying narrator, and the madness and cool crazy of Victorian London could be done well.
2. What would you least like to see (things that haven't yet been adapted)?
I dread to think of a filmed Gone-Away World or Foucault's Pendulum or *shudder* His Master's Voice.
Slightly related:
Do you prefer to see plays on the stage or on film?
Stage. Although I find I am partial to films of very good stage productions. The transitoriness of a stage production, which I find somewhat appealing on one level, seems like quite a loss if it is really good and there is no way of seeing it again.
Edit: oh, and I like films based on plays, too. If done right.

I highly recommend the Merchant of Venice (2004) directed by Michael Radford

After finishing a book I never really think "gosh that would make a good film"

I do sometimes. Mostly with thrillers or the like.

Luhrman largely stuck to Shakespeare's dialogue, though... and that worked amazingly well imho. *NM*
