I am so, so jealous of you. - Edit 1

Or of Americans in general, really. Every time I go to the US, I come back with a good haul of used books, but it'd be something else still if I could go to them whenever I liked. Here in Belgium, used books are almost never below 3 euros, and the large majority is 5 euros or more, much more if it's hardcover or somehow special (such as a book with the complete works of Shakespeare, albeit in small print and with thin pages, that I got for one or two dollars in the US; I don't imagine I could find it for less than ten times that price here). Only at the local library sales can I really do cheaper than that, but that's usually still 2 euros a book, whereas in the US in my experience it's often one dollar.
