I want to know which story you couldn't finish, naturally 
Each volume in the series differs from the others in some aspects (vol. 4 will include at least a story or two from authors outside the US and Canada), but yes, most of the tales are like what you've found in vol. 3 in terms of setting. Won't name my favorite story in this collection (although I think the Jeff Ford one could have gotten some love here), except to say this volume is full of goodness. Even if I weren't working with it, I'd say this series is easily one of the best reprint anthology series out there, even if I won't be blurbed on it this time
