If you want to do medicine take at least a year out after high school. Talk to people at various stages in their career from med students up and see how quick they become disillusioned - It's the greatest job in the world a lot of the time but the personal cost is huge and it requires you to be 100 per cent committed. This probably applies to everyhting, but I can but speak from personal experience
