Hi guys. I really need your help for two research papers I'm writing on wotmania. This is part one. If you could take five minutes and fill out this survey, it would be incredibly helpful.
-What is your race?
Normally the 1500m or 3km. uh.. Caucasian if that's what you're asking ..
-Do you think that there is an explicit hierarchy at wotmania? If so, how does it break down?
Not really. I mean there are those who have programming power, and the admin power to delete or edit posts. They are the technical heirarchy but in my experience that does not really relate to the community as such. [more below]
-Do you believe that there is a hierarchy at wotmania, but it isn’t officially noted by anyone? If so, how does this hierarchy break down?
No.
-Do the terms Elder, Midbie, and Newbie actually mean anything for a person, or is it just a title that establishes how long someone has been at the site?
Not at all. Using them to denote length of time at the site is fine, however some people seem to believe they are somehow more than that. Most of those people are wankers.
-Do you think that the admins on the site are in higher standing than the other members?
Not necessarily. Higher standing in whose eyes? Let's assume the general populace. First of all there is the issue of visibility: some admins are quiet on the boards and so are less well known than some of their higher posting co-admins. It's hard to give someone "higher standing" when you have no idea who they are!
But does being an admin instantly command respect? To an extent, yes: I admire that they are willing to sacrifice their time for the community. However, respect for the admin work that they do, and respect for their posts and general conduct on the boards are seperate issues.
Similarly, if "higher standing" means popularity, then I think it's clear that lost posting admins don't necessarily get it.
-In your opinion, do those who post on the Community MB think that they are “better” than those on the WoT MB?
I think some do, yes.

Thank you.
