Hi guys. I really need your help for two research papers I'm writing on wotmania. This is part one. If you could take five minutes and fill out this survey, it would be incredibly helpful.
-What is your race?
I don't break people up into the notion of "Races" But, since you ask I am caucasion. Canadian. I don't know what else I'd say there.
-Do you think that there is an explicit hierarchy at wotmania? If so, how does it break down?
Explicit hierarchy? No. Subtle and one in certain regards, yes.
-Do you believe that there is a hierarchy at wotmania, but it isn’t officially noted by anyone? If so, how does this hierarchy break down?
Yes, I sort of just said this. Well, I don't exactly know how it breaks down. Usually there are the older people who tend to only be friendly (or just don't talk to newer members, and thus discriminate that way) to other people who've been here as long as they have. Then you have others who are kind and talkative to just about anyone, regardless of their duration coming to Wotmania, and as long as the other person is polite/not ignorant. Then you have the new people, who often lurk and don't post much, or frequent the WoT Board. On each there is a distinct hierarchy of respect, but not much else. Each board has individuals the majority respects the opinions of, etc. Usually Admins tend to fall into this category, but not always.
-Do the terms Elder, Midbie, and Newbie actually mean anything for a person, or is it just a title that establishes how long someone has been at the site?
No, it doesn't mean anything to me aside from a term used to mock some of your closer acquaintances at the site for silly slip-ups. And some of the "older" Wotmaniacs toss it around as some kind of superior term, which in fact, is extremely sad. Well it would be if I cared to like people who do such things anyway. As it is, I don't.
-Do you think that the admins on the site are in higher standing than the other members?
Not in particular. It really depends on the personality of each admin, and if they are generally likable. I don't give an admin any sort of higher standing than a regular poster unless they somehow deserve it.
-In your opinion, do those who post on the Community MB think that they are “better” than those on the WoT MB?
Yes. Or if not "better," more mature in their reading patterns, tastes, and general intelligence.
-In your opinion, do those who post on the WoT MB think that they are “better” than those on the Community MB?
A fair amount do, because they view this as the idiotic spam message board.
Thank you.
Ta. Oh yes, and your "race" question is so unlike the other questions it really sticks out as an odd one to ask.

We build a treehouse together.
