Hi guys. I really need your help for two research papers I'm writing on wotmania. This is part one. If you could take five minutes and fill out this survey, it would be incredibly helpful.
-What is your race?
White/Caucasian. And if you happen to be one of those who thinks Judaism is a race, well, I'm that too.
-Do you think that there is an explicit hierarchy at wotmania? If so, how does it break down?
I think it mostly comes down to how well people know you. The more well known people seem to be ranked "higher" than those nobody has ever heard of.
-Do you believe that there is a hierarchy at wotmania, but it isn’t officially noted by anyone? If so, how does this hierarchy break down?
Well, partly I think the same as above, but otherwise, I think that it's more cliquish than hierarchical. There are definite groups of people that it seems difficult to break into if you're anyone else.
-Do the terms Elder, Midbie, and Newbie actually mean anything for a person, or is it just a title that establishes how long someone has been at the site?
It depends on the person using the terms. Some people seem to just use them in terms of time, while others use them and get a kick out of pointing out that they've been on the site longer than you.
-Do you think that the admins on the site are in higher standing than the other members?
Not necessarily. Depends on what you mean by "higher standing." Do they have more power? Yes. Does that mean their opinions are more accepted by everyone else? Not necessarily.
-In your opinion, do those who post on the Community MB think that they are “better” than those on the WoT MB?
Some do. It's a general question, though. There will always be people on both ends of the spectrum.
-In your opinion, do those who post on the WoT MB think that they are “better” than those on the Community MB?
See above. As an aside, I post on both -- there do seem to be differences between the general personalities of the boards, but like I said, there are exceptions to everything.
Thank you.
Yup.
