I use it to keep flies off my dogs in summer
Yup, I think the old doc used it to keep fleas off the children
As an ex-Pom, I recall those wonderful NHS prescriptions of my childhood - "The Dose"; "The Ointment"; "The Lotion"
The doc I took over from here was still prescribing "Dr McKenzie's cough bottle" right up to her retirement last year
All compounded by the chemist - you never knew what was in them!
Heh, I do now
These days, I go online (usually the Merck site) and visit my doctor armed with discussion points as to the benefits of one company's version of a pill versus another - it helps to have a doctor who encourages said behaviour
You have no idea how much of a blessing it is to have someone educated come in who you can actually discuss their illness and treatment with rather than the continual stream of runny noses and "No he doesn't need antibiotics for that". I empathise with your doc
EDIT - *short celebration of 500th reply to this post*
I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag,
I was schooled with a strap right across my back
