Sounds like elements of Gnosticism mixed with some of the New Age movements (names are slipping me now). Interesting. Thanks for sharing!
I pull from a lot of sources and mishmash it all together till it works. The practice was suggested by the belief that 1) there is truth in ALL things, and 2) no finite beings can corner the market on the Infinite.
If you're into interesting books on Christianity, the most sane and well thought out I've ever read was "Honest to God" by John T. A. Robinson.
