The idea here is that premium users can use an RSS program to check wotmania periodically for new notes without actually coming to the site. The RSS program looks for unread notes, and pulls a copy of the note to the person's computer and alerts them of the message. You can read the note in the RSS program, then head over to wotmania to reply to the note if you feel like it.
Internet huh? That will never get through our corporate barriers. It is hard enough getting to wotmania
This is one of those premium features that comes about because it's something I know I would like for myself, and it seemed like it's something other people might like, too.
It should work well for those of us who are not in thrall to a big corporate IT department.
I plan on putting up a little introduction somewhere to RSS - what it is, how to use it, links to good RSS programs, etc. For now, though, just post questions here on the CMB and I'm sure folks will help answer any questions people might have.
I'll try.
Enjoy!
You too
PS - I've tested this using the RSS program I use (SharpReader), but I decided to skip my initial testing phase with a few guinea pigs... err... admins... If you run into troubles, let me know. It's likely this particular service will adapt and change a bit in the next week or two as I tweek things, but it's up and (as far as I know) working properly at the moment.
Things are getting clearer, I think. The admins said "no", so now you want to beta-test it on us.
