So while I was in the air flying to Anaheim I put together a new premium feature for wotmania - the ability for folks to check for new notes on wotmania without actually visiting the site.
The idea here is that premium users can use an RSS program to check wotmania periodically for new notes without actually coming to the site. The RSS program looks for unread notes, and pulls a copy of the note to the person's computer and alerts them of the message. You can read the note in the RSS program, then head over to wotmania to reply to the note if you feel like it.
This is one of those premium features that comes about because it's something I know I would like for myself, and it seemed like it's something other people might like, too.
I plan on putting up a little introduction somewhere to RSS - what it is, how to use it, links to good RSS programs, etc. For now, though, just post questions here on the CMB and I'm sure folks will help answer any questions people might have.
To use the RSS Noteboard feed, just head to the Premium Options page. There's a new entry there that gives you an encrypted URL to copy/paste into your RSS program and access your notes remotely.
Enjoy!
PS - I've tested this using the RSS program I use (SharpReader), but I decided to skip my initial testing phase with a few guinea pigs... err... admins... If you run into troubles, let me know. It's likely this particular service will adapt and change a bit in the next week or two as I tweek things, but it's up and (as far as I know) working properly at the moment.
NOTE: Heh. I always wanted to edit one of Mike's posts. Anyway, just as a note since this is rather important, the feed address for you changes if you change your password. Ergo, your password is encrypted in your feed address. Don't give it out, and don't forget to update if you change your password.
