...waiting for my flight back to the UK, which doesn't depart till 11.30, and I figured it's time for a survey. Oh, and I've only got 10 minutes of internet time left, because I can't be bothered to buy more, so it'll have to be a quick one.
1. Have you ever been on an airplane?
Yep lots of times.
2. Where did you go? Or if you fly too much to say all, where do you go most of the time?
Most of the time, at the moment, I go from the UK to Baton Rouge in Louisiana and back in. No direct flights so I have connected through a variety of different US airports.
3. Do you like flying? Why (not)?
I like flying its fun. The type of aeroplane can have an impact though. 777's are cool - propellor based things are crap.
4. Don't you just love sitting at an airport waiting for your flight? I know I do. So many people to watch, so many things to see....
Normally I hate waiting - I don't mind it so bad at airports.
5. Any funny plane/airport related stories?
Not funny. Last time I left Gatwick to come to the US back in January we flew straight over central London at a relatively low altitude. The view was quite simply amazing. Imagine the "Eastenders" map and we flew straight over that - it was mightily impressive. Then the American lady sitting next to me, asked me what the Millennium Dome was .
6. What do you usually do during your flight? Just sit and wait? Read? Sleep?
Watch movies (if I have my own screen). If not I will try and read. Going back to the UK is horrible for jet lag so I try and sleep then.
7. Window or aisle seat?
Window
8. Have you ever missed a flight? If so, what did you do?
Nope.
9. What's your favourite airport? Why?
I'm not too keen on Heathrow. It's just too damn big. I like Gatwick they are nie and organised there, and it is easy to get to. In the US, Dallas isn't too bad (as long as you are not dropping someone off there), though my favourite is probably Baton Rouge. For a relatively small airport it is nice and comfortable, and being in the state capitol it is well furnished.
10. If money wasn't an issue, would you travel by plane more often?
Yes.
11. If you could take a flight to anywhere you want, but you'd have to leave right now, with just enough time to pack a suitcase, where would you go?
Germany!
12. Has the airline ever lost your suitcase? Which airline was it?
No. Having said that I work in the International Cultural Center at LSU and have encountered cases of lost luggage quite frequently with International students. If I were coming to the US I would not fly through Memphis airport, and I would avoid Northwest airlines like the plague (invariably when there is a lost luggage case it involves one of these two or both).
13. It looks like I'll be flying a lot in the years to come. What airlines should I avoid?
Northwest.
As for ones I would recommend, Continental are probably my favourite. I normally fly American airlines because they offer good student deals. It seems as though Delta have over taken them on that though so I am flying Delta in the summer. Within Europe, I have never had any problems with Ryanair and Stansted is a nice airport, but it seem Elaine has and I have only flown Ryanair a couple of times.
13 questions....that'll have to do. Thank you for your time, and enjoy, or something. I'll go and find myself some food now, because they don't even feed you on these short flights....a sandwich with a slice of cheese that tastes like plastic is the best I can hope for. I'll read your replies tonight when I get back
No problem - I hope you have had a good flight .
