...waiting for my flight back to the UK, which doesn't depart till 11.30, and I figured it's time for a survey. Oh, and I've only got 10 minutes of internet time left, because I can't be bothered to buy more, so it'll have to be a quick one.
1. Have you ever been on an airplane?
Yep! A few times now
2. Where did you go? Or if you fly too much to say all, where do you go most of the time?
I've flown between Canberra and Sydney, Melbourne and Adeliade. Sydney to Brisbane and Newcastle. And one round world trip which was Sydney to New York to London and back to Sydney.
3. Do you like flying? Why (not)?
I like it. I don't fly often when I travel because of the cost, but there is something fun about flying.
4. Don't you just love sitting at an airport waiting for your flight? I know I do. So many people to watch, so many things to see....
That depends. I hate waiting for a long time. Like when I was leaving New York I got to the airport really early because I didn't want to get caught up by queues and be late. But there were no lines at all! I expected between half an hour and an hour to get through all the check in business and it literally took 5 minutes! I exhausted the shops pretty quickly and soon got bored waiting.
5. Any funny plane/airport related stories?
That flight from NY I was talking about? It was a shocker. We left an hour late (I was going to London) because we got filled up from people who were to be on an earlier flight that was cancelled. We did however arrive on time. But when we got to London, it was all icy, so a lot of flights had been cancelled, but those planes were still sitting at the gates. Where we had to get to get off. And the ground crew could not move fast because of the ice. We sat in the plane on the ground for 3 damn hours before we could get off. It was not fun.
6. What do you usually do during your flight? Just sit and wait? Read? Sleep?
If I have a window seat I look out the window at all the little houses and stuff. On my overseas flights I did a lot of reading and watching the movies. I didn't sleep very easily.
7. Window or aisle seat?
Window on short flights. I'm torn on long flights. Do I want to have to climb over people to get out of my seat or do I want people climbing out over me? If I'm flying over an ocean there generally isn't much to see out the window, so that doesn't help swing my decision that way.
8. Have you ever missed a flight? If so, what did you do?
No. Thankfully. I'd probably panic if I did. I've cut it pretty fine once or twice.
9. What's your favourite airport? Why?
London. Lots of shops to keep me entertained while I wait for my flight!
10. If money wasn't an issue, would you travel by plane more often?
Yep. Its much faster. And cooler.
11. If you could take a flight to anywhere you want, but you'd have to leave right now, with just enough time to pack a suitcase, where would you go?
State College, USA. To see my boyfriend. In fact, I can't think of anything I'd like more than to do that.
12. Has the airline ever lost your suitcase? Which airline was it?
No. I almost thought I got to NYC without mine though, because it was one of the last off the plane. I was starting to get worried about it.
13. It looks like I'll be flying a lot in the years to come. What airlines should I avoid?
Hmm, I haven't flown any horrible ones. My overseas flights were with Qantas and BA, and both seemed quite good to me.
13 questions....that'll have to do. Thank you for your time, and enjoy, or something. I'll go and find myself some food now, because they don't even feed you on these short flights....a sandwich with a slice of cheese that tastes like plastic is the best I can hope for. I'll read your replies tonight when I get back
Hope you had a safe flight!
