They draw attention to my screen. In an open office environment, it is best not to have people commenting on the dancing bananas. Bad for my image....silly people think I actually come to work to work
Yes, without a doubt. If for no other reason than it can act as a focal point for new arrivals. This was one of the first posts I visited when I first arrived on the Comm board (my first comm post was 14/4/04) and it has been a constant through the last year, and through it I have gotten to know a fair number of wotmaniacs a lot better. If it's not repeated on the new board, the only people who will ever come here will be the usual suspects and the post will fall from one of the core elements of the community to an occasional threadjacking point. There's nothing wrong with that intrinsically, but it fails to recognise what the post truly is.
