Its quite interesting the number of Protestants who dont even recognize the Catholics as being Christian. For isntance when McKinley in the late 19th century was preparing to go to war against Spain, one of his aims was to Christianize the Phillipines. Never mind that they were Catholic. So yes, for the Protestants to recognize the Pope and the things he says is not exactly accurate thinking.
Oh and if you ever get a chance to study Papal history, do so - its so corrupt and debased that its lots of fun.
