I recently read this book, and I enjoyed it, but found that the long parts in which you say he was rambling, while making the book intolerable in large doses, were important to setting the stage of the book, and the mindsets of the characters.
The one thing that I strongly disagree with you about, however, is the idea that he destroys that there is deeper meaning. he is making a commentary on conspiracies, and people's susceptibility to believe anything, and make it true. also, it seems to be aboutlife. the templar Plan may not have had any of its meaning retained, but the very end, it seems I remember talking about life, and death, and meanings therein, but I don't remember, I need to go look at the last chapter again. I'll look tomorrow at mys chool library.
Edit: looking back, this is utterly incoherent... I'm a bit tired now, I'll come back and revise this later.
