I draw several conclusions from the article:

1. People who commit these bombings are often not just "sacrificing themselves for the cause" ; this is a belief I have held for some time. Many are in poverty because of the economic condition in the Occupied Territories, and want their families to earn the stipend they get upon becoming "shahids". Others are depressed and marginalized. Often it is a combination of a variety of factors, where a belief that "Allah" condones the act is merely a footnote.

2. Palestinian society is nonetheless backwards, and the Occupation just lets people blame Israel for a lot of things it has nothing to do with. The way women are treated in their society is reprehensible and I don't give a damn what any "cultural relativists" will say about respecting ignorant, stupid, self-destructive backwards cultures, our society is more evolved and humane. Illiteracy, religious fanaticism, economic underdevelopment - name your reasons, but the simple fact is that Palestine has a LOT of maturing to do.

3. I really feel sorry for the woman because I see a depressed, lonely woman who was cast out by her peers because of circumstances beyond her control. She had no voice, no personality, no ability to choose what life she would take. She could only choose her death.
