I haven't quite decided what I think on the palestinian issue... Druegan - 29/04/2004 10:23:48 AM

I haven't researched it enough, I don't think.

This is my little dillemna. I have a very simple set of criteria which governs my inclination to response.. If a person acts like a human, they get treated as a human. If a person degrades themselves into barbarity or brutality, they get treated so by me.

It's why I have no conscience problems about beating the snot out of somebody who mistreats their wife or girlfriend, or kids, or that sort.

Freedom is a big thing for me too.. It is definitely a thing worth fighting and dying for, if anything is.

Now, I can appreciate the palestinians stuggle for better lives.. they live like sh*t. I can definitely appreciate the struggle for freedom.

The problem I have is.. Half their bloody population isn't free at all. the women. Under this bullsh*t islamist patriarchy they have set up, women have next to no rights, no freedoms, nada. The men can do whatever they like, as long as they hold to some ancient literature. That's bullsh*t.

Now, under the veil of "religion", they teach children to kill.. convince people to strap explosives to themselves and walk into crowded public places.. To sow terror, suffering and death.. This isn't human. This is barbaric and bestial to the extreme.. If I were to meet anyone in this country even approaching doing something like this to their wife, their girlfriend, or their kids, I would crush their skull in with a tire iron and never think twice about it.

So I'm having a hard time feeling ANY sympathy for the palestinians.. except for the women and children. Those I feel sympathy for.

The struggle for freedom begins at home. If you can't allow your wife to be free to make her own choices, you don't deserve any freedom yourself. So, in my mind, I guess it boils down to religion. If the palestinians can get past this backward, oppressive islamist cultural bullsh*t, then maybe I could see supporting them.

But as it stands, articles like this one make me wonder if the whole issue couldn't be resolved happily to my moral standards by a couple of large warheads loaded with chemical weaponry.

Maybe that makes me a bad person. Maybe I just get really pissed off seeing whole sections of a populace abused and beaten down by some patriarchal bullsh*t carried out in the name of god. As it stands.. maybe chemical weaponry is excessive.. Just round up every male over the age of 14 and put a bullet in their head if they can't see clear that freedom is for everyone.. including women. that should calm things down sufficiently.

*sigh* It is hard to be nice when one lives in such a f**ked up place.

He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee. -- Friedrich Nietzsche
