I only take protein shakes very occasionally, as I don't want to do anything odd to myself. Or really get musclely and turn into a gorilla. I'm actually rather thin, but with decent muscle definition. How I like it.
I used to use them occasionally to recover after doing weights. I've even tried creatine and protein shakes a few years ago but I never took it for more htan two or three months. Not really all that helpful. A bit stronger when using the creatine, but hten as soon as I got off it I went right back. These days I'm happy with my own size or if anythign I'd prefer to be a bit leaner through the legs. My legs pack on muscle even just doing cardio.
Why not turn yourself into a gorilla though? That way all your back hair will come in handy Heh, you'd probably find though that it generally takes quite a lot of effort and work to really increase size anyway. And protein shakes really aren't necessary if you were to try to get bigger.
